Sunday we went to a wedding and we are always a little nervous about taking Brody places that require him to be still and quiet. That just seems like way too much to ask of a one year old. We sat in the back of the chapel so we had an easy escape in case he got too loud. We distracted him for a little bit with crackers....which he chewed up and then spit all over his shirt. He made it through about half of the ceremony- not bad. Once we got to the reception and he had dinner he was a lot happier. After dinner he found the dance floor and made a few friends. : )
Then on Tuesday we had to take Brody to his one year appt.....he had to get FIVE shots. I dread these appointments, thankfully Travis comes with me when Brody has to get shots. We both agreed that this was probably the worst one so far. Now that Brody is older and knows what's going on it makes it so much worse. Everytime he gets hurt the first thing he does is gets up and runs to me. It was horrible to stand there and watch his little face turn purple and hear him scream like that and not be able to do anything. : ( I just have to remind myself all the horrible things these shots are preventing.
I fixed him spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and he got to have his first chocolate chip cookie...because I felt like he deserved it. He thought that was the best thing ever and I think he forgot about his shots : )
He had a good day yesterday too...Grandpa came over and hung his swing on the front porch for him. I'm probably just as excited as he is about this : ) I love that the weather is cooling down finally and I want to do as much outside as possible since we have been hiding in the air coniditioned house all summer!
