16 Weeks

16 weeks- baby is growing!

Baby's now the size of an avocado!Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

I've been feeling much better the last few weeks - the nausea went away almost as soon as I hit the second trimester, I've gained a few pounds and I've got a lot more energy....much needed.  I've also started feeling the baby kick this week- probably the best thing about pregnancy and the thing I've missed the most.

Current cravings: snow cones, sub sandwiches, dill pickles, fruit

Growing and changing everyday

It seems like everyday now Brody does something new. He's so busy exploring and figuring out new things and it's so fun to watch! The first thing is very boy- he killed a lizard. There was a small lizard in our kitchen and Brody found it. He was just trying to play with it but the lizard couldn't handle the force of Brody's pointer finger.

It has been a lot of fun seeing him playing with all of his new toys from his birthday this week. He got a toy phone and he was playing with it the other night and walked over to me and put it up to my ear :) Guess, he's been watching us! It also surprised me when I was in the playroom with him the other day and started putting his blocks back in the bucket- he stopped what he was doing, walked over to me and started grabbing blocks two at a time putting them in the bucket with me until they were all picked up. Seriously, it's amazing to me to watch  him grow and learn so much!

We finished his playroom last week and he has been loving it :)

He loves this elephant- he pushes a button for it to play music and then he gets up and dances, he does this over and over but he wont let me get it on video :)

Crawling through his tunnel :)

The relationship between Brody and the dogs has been really fun to watch. He loves them...and now that Brody can play Milo loves Brody a lot too. Bailey is so great with him, so patient and sweet.

Another thing he has quickly figured out is that mommy keeps his snacks in her purse. Twice this week I have found him with a bag of snacks dumped out on the floor somewhere just helping himself :)  Cheerio anyone?

Consignment sale round two.....consider me addicted.

Tara and I went to another consignment sale in Grapevine lastnight, it was a little different than JBF but we liked them both. We signed up for the first time parent sale and got to shop for 2 hours. We got to bring strollers into this one which was definitley a plus- it was great not to have super heavy bags on my shoulders the whole time I was trying to pick through clothes. I noticed that some of the clothes seemed to be priced higher than at JBF but if you dig enough you can easily find good deals. Which I did.....I spent $165 and here's what I ended up with.

When I walked in the door with all this stuff lastnight Travis thought I spent at least $400. At both of the sales everything I got either looks new or is brand new with tags. This is seriously the way to go....never again will I pay $20 for an outfit at Babies R Us or Target. Most of the brands I got at the sales are Gap, Old Navy, Osh Kosh and Target.

Here's what I ended up with since its hard to tell from the pictures- 1 pair tennis shoes, 6 button up shirts, 10 long sleeve shirts, 7 hoodies, 1 sweater, 1 t-shirt, 2 fleece pajamas, 7 jeans, 1 pair khakis, 2 sweatpants, 1 Nike track suit, winter jacket with removable fleece jacket, hat and gloves. I also got a Winnie the Pooh sleep sack for the new baby and a toy for Brody.  No question about it, I am hooked.

After the sale we were both starving so we stopped for dinner and chatted mostly about our babies and our new lives as mommies - great sister day :)

15 Weeks Preggo

 WEEK 15:

Yesterday was our monthly Dr. appt - at that one we got to hear the baby's heartbeat :) The nurse will start coming to our house weekly starting next week to give me the progesterone shots, hopefully that will prevent bedrest and decrease our chances for a preemie. I set our appt for our sonogram for October 12th (the day before Travis' birthday) so that's when we confirm boy or girl :)

Week 15

Baby's now the size of a naval orange!Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.

Brody's birthday week

We had such a busy/fun week! My uncle from Colorado came into town - he's been pretty sick lately and I have not seen him in 5 years so it was really great to visit with him and I was so glad Brody got to meet him.

After many late nights Brody's birthday cake was a success....and totally worth it because when he saw it he smiled. :) We had a pretty simple party for him at our house- he had lots of fun playing with the other kids and climbing on all of his presents :)

On Sunday we had planned to go to the zoo for Brody's birthday but it was rainy and Brody was still kind of tired from his party. We were going to take him out to dinner but he got really fussy and ended up falling asleep at 7:00 and slept the whole night. So...on his birthday he didn't do the zoo, cake or presents lol.  Travis took Monday off since the weather was supposed to be better that day and we ended up doing his whole birthday one day late. It worked out better that way anyways because we pretty much had the whole zoo to ourselves and Brody loved getting to run around everywhere. He loved the zoo :)

After the zoo we came home and had dinner and then did presents and cake.

I think he had fun :)

My baby is ONE

Hard to believe it's been a year- It really has been the best and fastest year of our lives. We have had so much fun with every stage we've been through....not as much fun with the new tantrums he's started throwing but every new stage brings fun new things. :) I loved the baby stage when it was all about sleep and cuddling but I'm also loving the new toddler stage that never lets us get a minute to sit down! It's been so fun to see his personality come out and see him get more independent. It's also pretty great when he's playing and he turns and walks to me and just crawls up onto my lap and hugs me....or when I have to go somewhere without him and I get to see him run to me with a big smile when I get home - nothing beats moments like that. :) I also love that everytime I turn on his favorite song ("Ours" by Taylor Swift) he laughs and starts dancing. I love being this boy's mommy more than anything in the world and it just keeps getting better and better.

We love you sweet boy- you sure make life amazing.

Busy week

So, for Brody's birthday party we went with a zoo theme since we are taking him to the zoo on his  birthday. I found a bunch of cute decorations and I committed myself to becoming good at making cute kids cakes because (1) grocery store cakes are gross (2) bakery cakes are expensive (3) it means  more...maybe when our kids get older...that I put the time into making a homemade, mommy decorated cake. Hey, for this birthday he'll be able to look back at the pictures and see what I did for him ;)

This particular cake I chose to make involves gumpaste (which I have never worked with)- 3 animals hand sculpted out of gumpaste to be exact. I quickly figured out why it has that name- it feels exactly like molding something out of chewed gum. And that's not a very easy medium to work with in case you were wondering. So for the past week during nap times and late at night I have been working on these animals - frustrating sometimes but it was also fun since I don't really get to do many art projects these days.

I should also mention that during this busy week, Brody got his first fever. He woke up crying lastnight with a 101.5 fever and we were up until 3:00 this morning. After a late night call to my mom for advice and  some Tylenol for Brody he was finally able to sleep (he is getting a few molars in) and seems to be doing a little better today. Hoping he feels a lot better by his birthday party, don't want him to be sick for his first birthday like his momma was.

Lucky us :)

The best decision I ever made was marrying Travis, not only because he is a wonderful husband but because he is such an awesome daddy. I love that family is so important to him and that he has made it possible for us to have so much time together. I mean seriously....how many kids have both of their parents at home with them everyday??! One of my favorite things is watching him play with Brody and seeing how much they love each other. Here's a few of my favorite pictures of my boys.

Family day at the beach

Since we knew the weather was going to be so nice today we decided to head to one of the state parks that we had been to a few years ago.  It has a great picnic and beach area and it was perfect for an easy day trip with Brody. I was so excited to see him explore and play. As soon as we got there we had our picnic lunch (Brody ate in between exploring and splashing in the giant puddle that was by our table).  As you can see, he is all boy :)

After lunch Brody walked around a little more (picking up sticks, rocks and grass along the way) and then we headed down to the beach.

Brody is really good at walking now - every where there was sidewalk he was walking ( he would not walk on the grass lol) He also walked all the way down to the water by himself.

He loved splashing in the water and wasn't scared at all until a few bigger waves started coming in. After a few of these he started screaming and was done with the water.

He came over to me and reached for my hand, I told him I wouldn't let the waves get him but he decided he would rather play in the sand.

So thankful for my wonderful family and being able to have days like this. :)
